There a number of different components to online communications, all of which can be costly if undertaken independently by a member local. These include website hosting, email hosting, email lists, domain name registration, data backup and, typically the most costly, the design and creation of a website and content management system. The goal of the Students' Union Website Service, similar to that of the Federation's Handbook and Dayplanner service, is to produce a better quality services that meets the needs of students at an affordable price so that all member locals, regardless of their size, can improve communications with their members.

Students' Union Website Service features include:

• your students' union's choice of a customisable website template and modified through a content management system;
• the option of complete customisation of a template through Offshoot Inc.
• email aliases and forwarding;
• website statistics;
• emailing lists with server-based MailMan email list managing software;
• the registration of at least one domain name (.ca, .com, .net or .org) and the renewal of that domain name on an annual basis;
• the option to register additional domain names at cost through the Federation's reseller account;
• input on and access to all future site and service developments for the Students' Union Website Service;
• easy access to up to the minute campaigns and government relations content to keep your members in the loop about issues and announcements affecting their post-secondary education;
• reliable technology with full data backup protecting your students' union's email, website and FTP content.
