Updates to regulations under the Health Services and Insurance Act (HSIA) now allow international students with a study permit and individuals with work permits to be absent from Nova Scotia for more than 31 consecutive days without losing their Nova Scotia Medical Services Insurance (MSI) coverage.

Canadian students deserve better! The Federation is calling on the Canadian government to follow suit by forgiving student debt for loan borrowers that qualify for the Repayment Assistance Program while honouring commitments to permanently remove interest collected.
